Profile of Upper Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Findings in Dyspeptic Patients

Abstract Background and Objectives Dyspepsia is the commonest indication for upper gastrointestinal (UGI) endoscopy. This study was done to describe UGI endoscopic findings risk factors like alcohol abuse, smoking, pan chewing, drug intake in patients with alarm symptoms. Materials Methods an institution-based (Department of General Surgery at Government T.D. Medical College, Alappuzha) observational (descriptive) on 250 dyspeptic who underwent endoscopy duration 1 year between November 2018 October 2019. Results Among patients, 130 were males 120 females. The mean age 51.36 years. majority 36 65 years (65.6%) age. Precisely, 28.8% showed symptoms vomiting (26.8%), weight loss (7.6%), bleed (6.4%). Also, 237 (94.8%) had abnormal findings. included gastric erosions/erythema 197 (78.8%), duodenal 69 (27.6%), esophageal 56 (22.4%) patients. Substance use smoking (29.6%), followed by alcoholism (27.2%) chewing (14%). along seen malignant malignancy stomach cancer (4.8%).
